‘NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM’ WITH K-STATE COACH FRANK MARTIN
HOSTED BY FAMILY CRISIS & COUNSELING CENTER, INC.
BARTLESVILLE – Family Crisis & Counseling Center, Inc. hosted its 2011 fundraiser, “Night at the Museum” on July 9 at the Woolaroc Museum with special guest, Frank Martin, Kansas State University’s men’s basketball coach as the speaker. The FCC fundraiser featured dinner in the museum along with both a silent and a live auction.
In addition, sponsorship packages were offered at specific levels that included a VIP reception in The Lodge for a personal meet-and-greet opportunity with the coach.
Coach Frank Martin, who was an “unknown” to the casual college basketball fan just four years ago, has become one of the nation’s hottest young coaches in guiding the tradition-rich Kansas State program back to the forefront of college basketball. Coupling an electrifying figure like Martin with a unique venue such as Woolaroc provided to be a winning combination.
The night began with a private reception in the renowned Lodge at Woolaroc where sponsors and their guests had access to Coach Martin. Registration for all of the dinner guests began at 6 p.m. in the Woolaroc Museum where patrons were offered a cash bar and a silent auction. Dinner was served at 7 p.m. followed by the guest speaker.
Following dinner, guests were entertained with a live auction that includes such high-ticket items as a week-long condo getaway in Palm Springs, an entertainment package combining concert tickets and overnight rooms at the Price Tower Inn, an exclusive item from McCoy’s Jewelers, an OU football autographed by Coach Bob Stoops, and many more.
Barbara Turner, FCC executive director, notes that proceeds from the annual Family Crisis & Counseling Center, Inc. fundraiser provide support for local programs that deal with domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and substance abuse, as well as providing counseling intervention for abusers in an effort to break the insidious pattern that puts families in crisis.
“A very important part of FCC’s function is to provide safe shelter for abused women and their children until they can divest themselves from the abusive situation and start a new life. So, while the annual fundraiser offers the community a spontaneous evening of fun, the event has a serious purpose as well,” she added.
